With the ‘return’ to school (althought phased) on the 8th March, it has never been a better opportunity to bring knowledge organisers into the fore.

If we are to avoid the anxiety-inducing catch up narrative, there must be additional measures of support in place. The Knowledge Organiser is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

A departmental hymn-sheet for the staff and students to sing from.

If we are to avoid the anxiety-inducing catch up narrative, there must be additional measures of support in place. The Knowledge Organiser is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

A concrete, consistent piece of literature and support that students can refer back ton once they have fires up their metacognitively skills and have decided where they could do with some more knowledge.

A quizzable piece of multi-purpose literature that can provide support and comfort, and inspire measurable change from anxious students that feel left behind or ‘;too far behind to catch up’.

This EDUQAS Latin Litearture knowledge organiser has been in the works for some time and has become a bit of a passion project. Writing of it had been delayed due to lockdown, but I recently found the time to complete it.

I offer it as a boon and a safety net for any other Classics teachers who find themselves in one-person departments up and down the country, having to struggle to collate evidence for often a whole Classics department by themselves.

Part 3: Corrective Feedback with CRM

Two parts psychological security (the correct answer is always provided) + one part student agency (self-marking and correction) + one part low stakes (retrieval not assessment) = Deadpool Effect.

Part 2: Why Successive Relearning (SR)

If you’re just tuning in now, you will probably need context for this part. Find it here Capturing the climate shift? There is no doubt, both Ben and I find the quiet of Successive Relearning a little disconcerting. We are, by agreement, noisy teachers and yet we see the benefit of personal, focused, thinking-hard, self-paced,…
